Review: Albany Distilling Co “Quackenbush” Amber Rum

Color/Appearance
Incredibly light gold
Score:  3.5

Smell/Aroma
1st sniff – bright grapes, smells like good champagne!
2nd sniff, 2-3 minutes – light booze, faint nutmeg and smoke
3rd sniff, 8-10 minutes – raisins and flan
Score: 4

Taste/Flavor/Mouthfeel
– spicey sweet oak barrel, little rough at the end
– short fruit spike on the front leading to a quick report of smoke, with a longish finish of barrel notes
– slightly astringent
– thin mouthfeel
Score: 3.5

Experience
– Certainly nothing to complain about. Smells pretty fantastic, but the palate doesn’t quite match the hype on the nose. Better than average.
